Kentish Gazette 31 May 1775: violent hail storm

Cambridge, May 26. On Wednesday last there was a most terrible storm of thunder, lightning, hail and rain, in this town and its environs, which lasted a considerable time. At Trumpington, about two miles off, the hail was uncommonly violent, and has cut off most of the garden fruit: at Milton, a large tree was totally stripped. We hear it was equally violent at Newmarket and places adjacent, but we do not at present hear of any mischief being done.
