Huntingdon Bedford and Peterborough Gazette 26 Jul 1828: theft from Howard and Bell

John Cunnington, a well-looking man, pleaded Guilty at two charges of having stolen wearing apparel from Trumpington, the property of Mr. Howard, and Mr. (sic - actually Mrs - Ed.) Bell. Mr. Payne, the town gaoler, being called, said he had no previous knowledge of the prisoner, who had worked with Mr. Brewer, who had told witness he never had occasion to suspect the prisoner of improper conduct. Sentence — six months’ imprisonment and hard labour.
