Cambridge General Advertiser 3 Aug 1840: Claxton Wicks stock sale

270 prime Leicester sheep, 22 shearling tups, and a pair of handsome ponies, Trumpington

To be sold by auction, by Elliot Smith & Son, tomorrow (Thursday) the 6th day of August, 1840, at three o’clock in the afternoon, on Mr. Claxton Wicks' farm. The sheep will be penned in the close fronting the Trumpington-road, near the windmill.

The tups

Comprise 22 prime shearlings, from celebrated stock from Northamptonshire, Mr. Serjeant, of Haslingfield, and others, equally sought after.

The sheep

Consist of 160 prime Leicester lambs, 50 shearling ewes, and 44 do. wethers, and will be sold in half scores.

The ponies are handsome, and quiet either to ride or drive.

Three month’s credit on approved joint security.
