Cambridge Chronicle 22 Jul 1854: Charles Careless charged William Rayment with assault

CAMBRIDGE DIVISION PETTY SESSIONS.

SATURDAY, JULY 15, 1854.

TRUMPINGTON. — William Rayment, labourer, of this village, was charged by Charles Careless, of the same place with assaulting him on the 7th inst. It appeared that the defendant and complainant were both in the employ of Mr. Toller, farmer, Trumpington, and on the day in question they were thatching together, when the defendant requested the complainant to bring him some straw, which was refused by complainant: words ensued, and the defendant then struck the complainant. — Case dismissed, complainant to pay 6s. 6d. expenses.
