Cambridge Chronicle 10 Mar 1855: John Constable pupil teacher drawing prize

Society of Arts – Drawing Prizes. – From the result of the examination in drawing, held at the several Training Colleges last Christmas, the Society of Arts, Marlborough House, have been pleased to award to those students who showed the greatest proficiency in this art a prize, consisting of a very elegant and complete box of mathematical and drawing instruments, value a guinea. At the Battersea Training College, we are glad to find that three of the students from this district were successful in obtaining these prizes. We subjoin their names, with the schools at which they were pupil teachers: - William Barnard, East road National school; William Brooks, St. Paul’s National School; John Constable, Trumpington National School.
