Bucks Herald 3 Sep 1864: Thomas Spencer vagrant in Buckinghamshire

VAGRANCY AT ASTON CLINTON.

Thomas Spencer, describing himself as a shoe-maker on tramp, and belonging to Trumpington, near Cambridge, was charged by Police-constable Benmore with vagrancy. On the previous Wednesday he was begging, obtaining at one place some bread and meat, and at another asking for money. When taken into custody he belaboured the police-man with a formidable looking stick, which was produced in court. The officer did not press the charge of assault; and, for the act of vagrancy, Spencer was sent to gaol for seven days.
