Cambridge Independent Press 3 Dec 1887: James Constable sued

Cambridge County Court. — The monthly sitting of this court was held before His Honor Judge Bagshawe, at the Guildhall, on Wednesday. The business before the court was of very little interest. In the case of Attack v. Constable, the plaintiff, a builder of Cambridge, sued the defendant, a hatter, of Petty-cury, for about £10 for work executed at the “Unicorn,” Trumpington, of which he is the lessee, in July, 1884,— Mr. W. Cockerell appeared for the plaintiff, Mr. J. Ellison being for the defendant, who had paid £3 10s. 6d., into court. — It appeared that the plaintiff put in a fire-place at the “Unicorn,” the order for which, he asserted, he had from the wife of the defendant, but this was denied. — His Honor considered the amount paid into court was sufficient to satisfy the debt, and gave judgement for the defendant with costs.
