Chelmsford Chronicle 6 Aor 1900: Thomas Wallage drunk and disorderly

Thos. Wallage, a drover, of Trumpington, and Frederic Barnes, a labourer, of Steeple Bumpstead, were summoned for being drunk and disorderly and refusing to quit the Lion Inn, Steeple Bumpstead, on March 19th. — Frederic Charles Cornwell, the landlord, said that he had to send for P.s. Wyatt to eject the defendants. — P.s. Wyatt stated that Wallace (sic) was very violent, and when out in the streets challenged any man in Steeple Bumpstead to fight. — Wallage was fined 10s. and 12s. 6d. costs in the first case, and 5s. and 11s. costs in the second. — Barnes did not ap-pear. — The Bench commended Cornwell, the landlord, for his action, and issued a warrant for the arrest of Barnes.
