MOTORISTS IN COLLISION.

Undergraduate Severely Injured.

A collision between a motor cycle and a cycle and sidecar occurred about 9:30 on Monday evening in from of The Beeches, Trumpington-road, and resulted in a King’s College undergraduate, Mr. Larkin, receiving a fracture of the left lower leg and an injury to his left knee, while the passenger in the sidecar, William Beeton, of 49, Newmarket-road, was thrown out and received an injury to his ear.

P.C. Waylett, of the Borough Police Force was informed by Mr. Arthur King of 1, North Cottages, Trumpington, that a collision had taken place on the Trumpington-road about 100 yards in the County police district, and that one of the motorists was seriously injured. He set off for the scene of the accident at once, and upon arrival there found Dr. Guillemard and Dr. Haynes, of Trumpington, also P.C. Howe, of the County Police Force, attending to Larkin, who stated that he was driving his motor cycle at a good pace in the direction of the town when he collided with another motorist going in the opposite direction, and was thrown from his machine. He did not see the other motorist before the collision.

P.C. Waylett afterwards ascertained that he was Mr. Walker R. Ward, of 32, East-road, who had a sidecar attached to his machine, with Mr. Beeton as passenger. Before P.C. Waylett arrived Mr. Ward’s passenger had been taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he was attended to and discharged. The police assisted the doctors to bandage Mr. Larkin, who was taken in the Rev. Canon Pemberton’s motor car to the Nursing Hostel, Thompson’s-lane, where he was detained.
