Chelmsford Chronicle 23 Mar 1928: Archie Edwards dangerous driving

Yesterday, at Bishop’s Stortford, Archie F. Edwards, Trumpington, was summoned for driving a motor car to the common danger, in London Rd., Bishop’s Stortford, on Feb. 25.

Annie Lister, Little Hallingbury, said she was cycling from Station Road into London Road, when the defendant cut in on her left side. His car touched her and threw her off.

Defendant said he was on his left side at the corner, and the young woman cycled out in a very hesitating manner, came on, and struck his mudgaurd. There were two cars in front of him. The cyclist let them go by her, and he expected she would do the same with him.

After retiring, the Chairman (Sir Edmund Barnard) said the defendant would have to pay a fine of 10/-.
