Cambridge Daily News 16 Jul 1955: Plant Breeding Institute opened

The Plant Breeding Institute’s new buildings and experimental grounds at Trumpington were opened by the Minister of Agriculture. It investigates the improvement of spring and winter wheat and breeds oats adapted to climatic conditions of the Eastern counties whilst in potatoes its chief concern is the battle with blight, eelworm, wart and virus diseases. A pathological section has recently been established.
