Cambridge Daily News 31 Aug 1957: Charlie Shadwell, landlord of the Green Man

The landlord of the Green Man in Trumpington is Charlie Shadwell, the well-known conductor of the BBC Variety Orchestra which has made over 11,000 radio broadcasts, many of them in the ‘Itma’ series that were so popular during the war years. He also conducted the Cambridge New Theatre orchestra during 1930. He makes regular trips to London to arrange music for the BBC television shows.
