Cambridge Daily News 23 Sep 1959: Fawcett swimming pool opened

The Headmaster of Fawcett Junior School, Trumpington (Mr F.N. Walker) declared the school’s new swimming pool was “well and truly open” after he had been pushed fully dressed into the water. Roars of laughter came from the Mayor (Wallace Cole), Mayoress and parents who were present but the Head took his ducking in good part and swam vigorously for half a length. The pool has been built by the parents with the help of the children themselves.
