Event Notes Note (1) At Steyning Note (2) Sep 6 ALLEN Mr Thomas 81 [in margin - He was born at Stenning in Sussex in his old age he sojourned in this Parish to the ring of 4 bells he added a treble he bought Emmanuel College Pulpit & set it up in this Church he settled three pound a year forever for the putting out poor children to Apprentiship] On south wall of chapel in Trumpington parish church: THOMAS ALLEN Gent Related to Mris BARON gave to ye Towne of Trumpington nine acres of Land which are left to JOHN BARON Gent. for one Thowsand years at ye yearly rent of three pownds for ye putting of poor Boys out Apprentice The Writings whereof are in ye Towne chest dated Jan ye22d 1681 Stone in floor of chancel: Here lieth interred the body of Thomas Allen Gent: who departed this life Sept 4th 1692 Aged 81 years Note (3) Will signed 1 Jan 1692. Thomas Allen, Gent, "now living in Trumpington". Left £5 to the poor of this parish to be distributed according to the discretion of my executrix with the advice and help of the churchwardens and overseers. 40 shillings to the minister of the parish where I am buried.
