At the 1982 AGM the Secretary's report "was opened by a tribute to Mr
Morris's hard work for the Society over so many years. More especially as, years
ago, he greatly helped to keep it going on occasions when it appeared that the
Society might fold up". Due to ill health he had to retire from the committee.
He was asked what he would like as a memento of his long association with the
Society and he requested that a cup may be purchased and awarded for the best
children's exhibit. This was the 'Fred Morris Cup', which was awarded from
1982-2005
