Notes for: Stephen Mansfield
In 1893 he bought land just north of Long Road at the western end from Joe Nightingale, and after demolishing the existing 7 cottages built North Cottages on it. After his death North Cottages devised to his daughter Louisa Nutter.

TRUMPINGTON.
AUCTION BY Mr. A. T. GRAIN - Mr. A. T. Grain held an auction at the Lion Hotel, Petty-cury, on Wednesday evening, when a freehold beerhouse with a private dwelling-house adjoining, at Trumpington, was brought in at £700, and seven freehold cottages, together with about 2 roods 15 poles of land, also at Trumpington, was sold to Mr. Mansfield for £525. Messrs. Ginn and Matthew of St. Andrew’s-street, were the solicitors.
Cambridge Daily News 21 Sep 1905: The will of the late Mr Stephen Mansfield of Trumpington includes a bequest of £250 to Chesterton Baptist chapel where he once a teacher in the Sunday School. This is not his only benefaction to the village; there are five almshouses erected by him and their upkeep and stipends for the inmates are provided out of other property. He also subscribed to the Royal Albert and Victoria Friendly Societies’ asylum and left £100 to the poor of Trumpington
