Notes for: Gordon Alan Laurie

Second marriage to Thelma Joy B Cottee in 1981.
From the Cambridge News 25 Oct 2008:
TRIBUTES have been paid to a founding father of the children's hospice at Milton, who has died aged 87.
Gordon Laurie oversaw fundraising of £3.5 million for the organisation over eight years, as chairman of the Haven Appeal.
The father-of-five was involved in the project for several years before it was opened by Princess Diana in 1989.
He began raising money by writing to friends and members of the community, asking for £100 each, before setting up fundraising committees across the eastern region.
Mr Laurie, who was born in Cambridge and lived in the city all his life before retiring to Milton, was the first chairman of the hospice's trustees.
When it opened, the hospice was only the fourth of its kind in the country, and Mr Laurie continued to raise funds until he stepped down as a trustee in 1994.
On behalf of the staff, children and families at the hospice, a spokesman said: "Gordon and his wife Joy worked tirelessly for the Milton Hospice. He will be sadly missed."
The Milton hospice is now part of the East Anglia's Children's Hospices group, which also has a centre in Ipswich.
It supports children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions in the hospice and at their homes.
Mr Laurie died on October 8, and his funeral was held at Cambridge Crematorium. He leaves his wife, Joy, and five children
