Malcolm Maltby
Malcolm was born in 1929 and was happily married to Jean for 63 years.
He was a stonemason by trade and had worked in many of the Cambridge colleges. A number of them contain his work and he used to say that this would last longer than him! At once stage he travelled to London in order to work on St Paul’s Cathedral. The work was hard and many stonemasons had to take early retirement, suffering from back problems.
After studying at night school, Malcolm then worked as a Clerk of Works for the government. His hobbies and interests included pottery and wood turning. He enjoyed several sports including bowling.
He loved gardening and liked to take part in Open Garden events for the church.
Before the move to Worlington, Malcolm helped with the Boy Scout movement and drove the mini coach with the Cub Scouts on board to their camping trips, staying on to cook their meals.
Malcolm died on 24th May 2017 aged 88.
Jean Maltby and family.
Those fans of the Open Garden events for All Saints Church will remember Malcolm and Jean’s beautiful garden at The Meadows. For many years, they had happily taken part and a pleasure to be able to visit them. A lovely greeting and friendly chat are fond memories for us and we send the family our condolences and warm wishes.
