From the Pall Mall Gazette, 20 Jan 1891: Among the candidates who have successfully qualified for the third-class speed badge of the N. S. A. (National Skating Association) are two youngsters - Master C. Morley, of Cambridge (aged thirteen) and Master C. Scott, of Trumpington (aged fourteen), who respectively covered the distance (one mile with three turns) in 4 min. 18 sec. and 4 min. 25 sec. The minimum time to secure the badge is 4½ minutes.
