Cambridge Chronicle 26 Jul 1879:
PROPERTY SALE. On the 16th instant, Mr. John Swan sold at the Lion Hotel certain free hold property situate at Trumpington, pursuant to a judgment given by Mr. Justice Fry in an action entitled "Re Charles Cuming, deceased, Kemp v Peed".
Lot 1, an allotment of freehold pasture land, containing 1a. 3r. 23p. in the occupation of Mr. Holmes, near Trumpington-road was sold to Mr. Nockolds, Saffron Walden, for £540.
Lot 2, 2r. 15p. of freehold building land with 290 feet frontage to proposed new roadway, was sold to Mr. G. Peck, Trumpington-street, for £320.
Lot 3, a plot of 1r. 31p., opposite the last lot, with 307 feet frontage, was sold to Mr. Mansel, Trumpington, for £330.
Lot 4, 1r. 11p., adjoining lot 2, with 143 feet frontage, sold to Mr. Scott, Trumpington, for £320.
Lot 5, freehold house, tenement, and garden, occupied by Mr. S. Brooks and his undertenants, sold to Mr. A. J. Lyon, solicitor, for £660.

Property Sale. - On Thursday evening last, Messrs. Catling and Mann sold several properties at their sale rooms. . . .
They also sold nine plots of building ground in the parish of Trumpington, with frontages of 32 feet each, and with depths varying from 100 feet 9 inches to 72 feet 6 inches. They were sold as follows: - Lot 1 - Mr. Arthur Gentle, £61. - Lot 2 - Mr. Saml. Gentle, £60. Lot 3 - Mr. Thos. Harrington, £60. Lot 4 - Mr. Thomas Peters, £60. Lot 5 - Mr. Harry Benton, £53. Lot 6 - Mr. Elijah Lawrence, £51. Lot 7 - Mr. Charles Scott, £50. Lots 8 and 9 - Mr. C Scott, £92.

IMPURE WELLS AT TRUMPINGTON
Arthur Gentle and Samuel Gentle, of Trumpington, Henry Benton, of Grantchester; Thomas Harrington, of Trumpington; Charles Scott and Arthur Gentle, also of Trumpington: Thomas Brooks Bumpstead and Elijah Lawrence, of Trumpington, were all and severally summoned for having wells upon their premises, the water of which was unfit for domestic purpose, and to show cause why the said wells should not be closed. - Mr. Symonds appeared for the Chesterton Rural Sanitary Authority. In the cases of Lawrence and Bumpstead, the cases were dismissed, owing to the public analyst's report not being forthcoming - The cases of Harrington and Benton were adjourned.

The Magistrates this day were first occupied in the transference of several beerhouses in the different parishes of the district, this being the special day set apart for that purpose. The following transfers were granted. . . .
Coach and Horses, Trumpington, from Edward Morland Shirley to Charles Scott; Unicorn, Trumpington, from Harriet Ison to Henry Peters; . . .
In 1902 he bought land on the eastern side of the High Street - Shelford Road junction (nos. 18 and 19 on Inclosure Award map) from Sarah and Frances Goodwin. He immediately sold it all on to William Warboys
