Notes for: William Bebee
Cambridge Chronicle 9 Jan 1858:
TRUMPINGTON. - Wanton Act. - Mr. Bebee, baker, of this same village, sustained a heavy loss last week some person or persons unknown putting poison into the trough where five store pigs were kept; one was found dead and the others were obliged to be killed. The following is an analysis of the contents of the pig’s stomach, send by a gentleman of Cambridge: - "The stomach contained a quantity of yellow thick substance: the coats of the stomachs were inflamed slightly in patches. There was no trace of arsenical poison, or any other metallic poison, but strong indications of strychnine or nux vomica, which was no doubt the cause of death." Mr. Bebee will give £2, to any person who will given such information as may lead to the conviction of the offenders.
Cambridge Chronicle 24 Sep 1870:
DEFICIENT WEIGHTS AND SCALES. - William Bebee, baker, Trumpington, for being in possession of a brass pound weight 6 1/2 drachms deficient, on the 30th of August, was fined 2s. 6d. and costs.
