Notes for: Martha Haggis

At the time of the Inclosure process (1801 - 1809) she owned one old inclosure (no. 37) in Trumpington. This was on the east side of High Street, the site of a farmhouse, and is now 53 High Street, stretching back across the back gardens of Alpha Terrace as far as no. 38. She was also granted a new allotment backing on to the old inclosure, which is now where nos 40 to 96 Alpha Terrace stand, with their gardens, also 63 to 75 Alpha Terrace, the Fawcett School playground, assembly hall and car park, as well as all of Wingate Close.
All this land was later sold after the death of her son Henry in 1840 (q.v.)
