Adm. at KING'S, a scholar from Eton, 1742. S. of Christopher, D.D. (1696). B. Oct. 31, 1724. Matric. 1743; B.A. 1746-7 (he was refused the M.A.). Fellow, 1745 till 1754, when he succeeded to the family estates. Author of the New Bath Guide, etc. Married, 1756, Ann, dau. of Felix Calvert, of Albury Hall, Herts. Owner of Anstey Hall, Trumpington. Resided at Bath, 1770-1805. Died 1805. Buried in Walcot Church, Bath. (D.N.B.; Hist. King's, 211.)
From the Cambridge Chronicle 27 Nov 1762: On Thursday morning a Fox was put up near Cherry Hinton by the hounds of Christopher Anstey Esq of Trumpington and being hard drove, took into Emmanuel College, went through the cloisters, round the fish pond, and afterwards leaped over the college wall and made his escape
