Notes for: George Arthur Williamson Evans

He was George Albert W Evans, according to his death record in 1980 in Surrey. But at the baptism of his children he is George Arthur Williamson Evans. Probably the same man.
The London Gazette 12 Nov 1943 has the following:
Notice is hereby given that GEORGE ARTHUR WILLIAMSON NEWELL a natural born British subject of 29 (sic) Alpha Terrace, Trumpington, in the Borough of Cambridge at present of the Royal Marines in His Majesty's Service intends after the expiratioon of 21 days from the date of publication of this notice to assume the surname of Evans in lieu of and in substitution for his present surname of Newell. - 9 Nov 1943.
