Notes for: Bertie Charles Marshall King
Killed during Somme Offensive. Parish Magazine of October 1916 reports a wound to his brother Pt A King and notes His brother Bombardier B C M King was killed in action on 27th September.
The Cambridge Chronicle reporting his death say he was on sentry duty when shell exploded close to him. He said he was hit in the leg, lost consciousness and died 2 minutes later. Assumed to have died fron Concussion. The note in the Cambridge Chronicle he was a Higher Grade scholar and on leaving school was engaged as a clerk at Robert Sayles. His brother was wounded in the face, chest and shoulder in 1916 and was retired from service in August 1918
