From the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette, 16 Jun 1904: The funeral of Mrs Kempthorne, who had been associated with St Columba's parish for the past 11 years, took place this afternoon at Trumpington, near Cambridge. Early this morning the coffin containing the remains was borne into the church of St Columba from the vicarage, and at six o'clock there was a celebration of Holy Communion. The service, which was largely attended by the members of the Guild of St Ann, was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. W. T. Jupp, assisted by the Rev. E. F. Mackreth, vicar of All Souls', Brighton, the Rev. H. S. MacMann, and the Rev. T. Jesson. After the service the remains were carried to the station and conveyed by rail to Trumpington, to share the grave of her husband, the late Rev. J. Kempthorne, who was formerly vicar of the parish. The funeral ceremony was attended by the Rev. W. T. and Mrs Jupp, and Miss Thompson, a niece of the deceased lady, who accompanied the remains from Sunderland.
