A great mountaineer; made, with Leslie Stephen, the first ascent of the Jungfrau Joch in 1862. ‘Dr. Morgan's chief title to fame will be that he was one of the very first of those great Cambridge tutors of the last half of the 19th century who made the smaller Colleges important in the University, but he was something infinitely greater than a successful College Tutor.’ (Dr F.
