Peter Reed contributed this information and photographs in April 2020. He worked at the Potato Pathology section of the Plant Breeding Institute from 1972-1975, and then had occasional visits to PBI in his later career for the Department for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA). He remembers the coprolite pits and the riverside where PBI had potato plots and the friendliness of the staff and facilities, etc. After looking at photographs on the Local History and TRA web sites, Peter commented that “the country park looks most impressive. The River Cam from the end of the railway embankment looks much like I remember it, and we used to go fishing in the coprolite ponds.”
