"Hold fast, hold firm, hold OUT": Millicent Garrett Fawcett and
the campaign for women's suffrage
10 May 2018, Trumpington Village Hall

In the centenary year of
Votes for Women, Dr Gill Sutherland from Newnham College gave a
talk about the influence of Millicent Garrett Fawcett and the non-violent campaign for women's
suffrage.
See the report: Millicent Garrett Fawcett and Women's Suffrage.

The Fawcett name has a strong resonance in Trumpington, with Millicent and Henry Fawcett
living nearby at 18 Brookside, Cambridge, into the 1880s, Henry Fawcett being buried in the
local churchyard, and the oldest of today's local primary schools being named Fawcett Primary
School
.

A blue plaque to Millicent Garrett Fawcett has recently been placed alongside that to Henry
Fawcett on 18 Brookside.

A bronze sculpture of Millicent Garrett Fawcett was unveiled in Parliament Square in April 2018.
