Notice on the north wall of the parish church: Mr Wm Austin Taylor of Trumpington in ye County of Cambridge, deceas'd No. 19th Anno Dom. 1679 gave for ever fourteene Acres of Arrable land laying in Botisham in ye same County purchasd of one Chippy of ye said Town to put out four of ye Poorest Children to Scoole, born in ye aforesaid Town of Trumpington, untill they can read a Chapter in ye Holy Bible perfectly, & then a Bible given to Them, and they dismist; and others of ye same Town to succeed as aforesaid. Item He gave out of ye message, purchased of Francis Roniny in Trumpington Twenty Shillings a year for ever to be laid out in Coales for ye use of the poore in ye same Town. Item He gave Twenty shillings a year to repayr ye foot way from ye House of John Peck Baker where his Mother latly dwelt to ye Church of ye said Trumpington Note (6) Will signed 5 Apr 1679. To John Peck of Trumpington, baker and Margaret his wife all freehold and leasehold houses and land in Bottisham (saving 14 acres mentioned later), and then to Austin Morgan of Cambridge, baker. Also all freehold messuage etc which he purchased of Francis Rowney. Also the copyhold tenement in Trumpington where he now dwelt with the close garden etc. Gave to his loving friends Mr John Baron, John Chaplin blacksmith and John Peck, all of Trumpington, 14 acres in Bottisham under trust to put 4 of the poorest sort of children born in Trumpington to school in Trumpington and pay for their schooling unto an honest schoolmaster or dame, until such time as they were able to read a chapter perfectly in the holy bible, then to replace them with a successor. £500 to Margaret wife of John Peck. 30 shillings to the poor prisoners in the castle and the poor in the spitle of Cambridge. Legacies to John Shackle, Gilbert Cockerton, kinsman William Morgan, eldest son of kinsman Mark Morgan, kinsman Edward Morgan, Mary East, Ann and Margaret Morgan children of Austin Morgan, John Squire of Cambridge carpenter. Then to his godchildren: widow Stacey and Frances her daughter, William Rowney, Alice Sanders, Anne Jeyno?, Anne Patterson, Thomas Haslop. 40 shillings to Mr John Baron and his brother Mr William Baron; 20 shillings to the poor of Trumpington for bread to be laid out at his funeral; £100 to Austin Morgan; £5 to John Austin, son of Cornelius Austin of Cambridge; £7 a year to Alexander Peck, brother of John Peck. 20 shillings a year to be laid out in coals for the use of the poor of Trumpington; 20 shillings a year to be laid out in keeping of a good and convenient footway from the tenement of the said John Peck wherein his mother lately dwelt in Trumpington to the church there.
