There were around 35 participants in the Village Hall, when Arthur Brookes talked about the concept of war memorials and the specific history of the Trumpington War Memorial. See the edited version of the history of the War Memorial.
The talk was preceded by the AGM, where Shirley Brown retired as Chairman and was thanked for her important contribution. Shirley continues as Programme Secretary, with Howard Slatter as Chairman. Shirley outlined the activities in the last year and the programme for 2010. Michael Hendy summarised the Group’s financial position. Howard mentioned a census research project which he is leading, where 4 volunteers are transcribing the local census returns from 1841 to 1901. Andrew Roberts described progress with this web site.
